Glen Scotia Distillery is the kind of whisky maker that quietly bucks the trend, keeps the authenticity and does things its own way. Founded in 1832 in Campbeltown, once dubbed the “Victorian Whisky Capital of the World”, Glen Scotia stands today as one of just three remaining distilleries in the region. 

Set on the Kintyre peninsula’s rugged west coast, the distillery still operates from buildings that date from the 1830s, the mash tun, the stillroom, the dunnage warehouse all retain their original form.  It’s heritage with muscle: the place has seen booms, busts, world wars, economic collapse, and still it persists. 

What sets Glen Scotia apart is that blend of place, tradition and bold flavor. They draw water from Crosshill Loch, malt barley (both un-peated and peated) is used, and the copper stills are shaped classically (onion-head style) to help deliver that distinctive Campbeltown dimension. The whisky style? Think maritime air, salty sea-spray, toffee sweetness, gentle smoke, all wrapped up in something with real pedigree.

Glen Scotia’s core range (Double Cask, 15 Year Old, Victoriana, 18 Year Old, 25 Year Old) poignantly showcase what this distillery is about: relentless craftsmanship, respect for story, and whisky lovers with a spine.  And the accolades aren’t just talk, Glen Scotia was named “Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year” and its 25-year-old expression won “Best in Show” at one of the biggest whisky competitions in 2021.
