Many of these pilots traveled to the Caribbean, working in the sugar and rum trade to fund their return home, and that history forms the heartbeat of the distillery today.

At the core of North Point Distillery’s range is the Pilot Rum, crafted from Fairtrade molasses and fermented with Kveik yeast, a Norwegian strain renowned for its vibrant, fruity character. Distilled twice in a bespoke 500L copper pot still, this high-proof spirit is then aged for a year in ex-Highland whisky casks, resulting in a harmonious fusion of Caribbean sweetness and Scottish complexity.

The maturation process delivers tasting notes of butterscotch, zesty citrus, and gentle oak, creating a rum that’s approachable yet layered with character. Each batch is a single-cask expression, ensuring that every bottle carries its own distinct personality. Bottled at 40% ABV, North Point Distillery’s rum embodies both precision and passion in every drop.
