Arran 15 Year Old Rare Batch – Peated Sherry Butts
Forget what you think you know about Arran. This 15 Year Old Rare Batch Peated release throws the rulebook into the sea, sets it alight, and lets the smoke drift over this bold island bottling. Matured for a solid fifteen years in 100% first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, this isn’t just a whisky — it’s a flavour riot with a peaty punch and a sherry-soaked soul.
This is Arran gone rogue. The distillery’s signature island elegance is still there, but it’s been roughed up with smoke and swagger. Bottled at a meaty 52.5% ABV, the result is unapologetically rich and intense. Think dark fruits stewed in spice, salted caramel, cracked black pepper, and campfire embers carried on a sea breeze.
On the nose, you’ll catch smoked raisins, burnt orange peel, and deep, resinous oak. The palate? A full-bodied swirl of treacle, toasted nuts, and singed driftwood, all hugged by that glorious Oloroso sweetness. And the finish? Long. Warming. A little wild. Like a fireside story you’ll want to hear again and again.
This is a rare batch, so when it’s gone — that’s it. No replays. No do-overs. Just a fleeting chance to taste something truly different from Arran’s usual clean, coastal style. A dram for the bold, the curious, and anyone craving a collision of smoke and sherry that actually works.
Call it an island enigma. Call it a smoky love letter to sherry casks. Just don’t call it ordinary.
This Arran Single Malt was produced from malted barley peated to 20ppm and fully aged in ex-oloroso sherry butts. These casks were sourced from a well-respected producer from the Jerez region of Spain whose family has been making sherry there for generations.
