The Artadi Valdeginés 2017 is a single-vineyard red wine that captures the soul of Rioja Alavesa. Produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi, a winery renowned for its commitment to terroir-driven wines, this vintage is a true reflection of its origins—offering purity, elegance, and a deep connection to the land.
Originally established as a cooperative in 1985, Artadi evolved under the leadership of the Lacalle family, who transformed the project into a producer of world-class wines. Their focus on small-plot viticulture and organic farming led them to step away from the D.O.Ca. Rioja in 2015, freeing them to craft wines that truly represent their unique vineyard sites. Today, Artadi cultivates over 80 hectares of vines across Rioja, Navarre, and Alicante, each with distinct soil compositions and microclimates.
The Valdeginés vineyard is a single plot of Tempranillo vines, planted on limestone-rich soils at an altitude that encourages slow ripening and exceptional balance. The 2017 vintage, shaped by the estate’s meticulous organic practices, delivers a wine with vibrant red fruit, delicate floral notes, and an earthy minerality.
This is a wine that speaks of its place, showcasing the finesse and complexity that define Artadi’s philosophy. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for further development, Artadi Valdeginés 2017 is a must-try for lovers of terroir-driven Spanish wines.

Artadi Valdeginés is a red wine made with Tempranillo grapes from a 7 hectare vineyard located in the municipality of Laguardia, about 600 meters above sea level, on clay-calcareous soils.
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 15 kg boxes, with the selection being performed in the vineyard itself. Once in the cellar they undergo a cold maceration for 24-48 hours before ferment with native yeasts in open wooden vats for 10-12 days with daily treading and a small pump-over. The malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels where the wine remains for 12 months.
