A Limited Edition Bunnahabhain release, crafted exclusively for Feis Ile 2023, this whisky is a true celebration of the distillery’s signature coastal character. Distilled on 28th October 1998, it first matured in American oak casks before being transferred to first-fill Manzanilla sherry casks on 25th May 2016 for an exceptional finishing period.
Manzanilla sherry is renowned for its distinctive saline, nutty, and dry profile, characteristics that beautifully complement the maritime essence of Bunnahabhain's spirit. While Manzanilla may not be as widely used as other sherries, it remains a favourite of Bunnahabhain’s Master Blender and Master Distiller, who appreciate its unique ability to enhance the whisky’s depth and complexity.
This cask-strength expression delivers an intense, concentrated flavour experience. On the nose, expect a harmonious blend of sea spray, toasted almonds, and dried fruits, interwoven with delicate spice and a touch of oak. The palate is rich and layered, revealing notes of salted caramel, roasted hazelnuts, citrus zest, and a whisper of warm baking spice. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving behind lingering hints of oak, brine, and gentle sherry sweetness.
Like all Bunnahabhain whiskies, this Feis Ile 2023 release is non-chill filtered and free from added colouring, ensuring a pure and authentic whisky experience. Bottled at 52.3% ABV, it offers a bold yet balanced taste, making it a must-have for collectors and Bunnahabhain enthusiasts alike.
