The Glasgow Distillery continues to break new ground with this striking addition to its Small Batch Series – a 5-year-old unpeated single malt finished in rare Greek Syrah red wine casks. Bottled at natural cask strength and limited to just 652 bottles, this is a whisky that captures rich Mediterranean fruit character layered over classic Lowland elegance.
Initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky spent its final 22 months in Syrah wine barriques sourced from the island of Evia, Greece – a region known for its bold, dark-fruited reds and coastal terroir. The result is a whisky that balances sweet intensity with robust depth.
Expect a vibrant burst of blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry jam, followed by layers of black cherry, caramelised vanilla, and dark chocolate, with a touch of pink peppercorn spice on the finish. Rich yet refined, it’s a cask-forward dram with a bold identity.
This is the first ever Glasgow 1770 release to feature Greek Syrah wine casks, making it a unique collectable as well as a complex sipper. Bottled at 59.3% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour.
