Nugan Estate Scruffy's Shiraz 2016 is a velvety and luxurious red wine, rich in flavour and intensity, made to honour the dedication and expertise of the vineyard manager affectionately known as "Scruffy." This exceptional Shiraz is a reflection of the meticulous care and passion Scruffy puts into tending the vines, ensuring that only the finest grapes make it into this premium wine.
The 2016 vintage benefited from mild temperatures at the beginning of the season, which allowed for a slow, even ripening process. This extended ripening period resulted in high-quality fruit, making it ideal for crafting a wine of exceptional depth and character. After the harvest, small parcels of hand-selected fruit were destemmed and chilled, ensuring the preservation of the freshest flavours.
Fermentation took place in small static fermenters, allowing the wine to develop its full potential. After fermentation, the wine was pressed into a combination of French and American oak barrels, where it matured for 12 months, adding complexity and richness to its character.
